Dear Rowling,
on July 13th 2005, in Canada, the editor of the Harry Potter saga ordered “not to read” for a couple of days the last Harry Potter book that the fans had regularly bought, because the sale in the shops were done “by mistake” two days earlier than expected. So, it have been ordered to not read what they had regularly bought.
This behavior has given rise to a boycott campaign that continues even now.
I am writing as fan. Since I appreciate your work, but I understand also the reasons for the boycott, I ask you to make a gesture that can prove your good intentions and can calm people.
In practice, it would be nice if you acknowledge publicly that the injunction not to read books regularly purchased was a stretch too hard and that it will not be repeated in the future; if you ask even a law that recognizes the human right to read, it would be perfect.
This is all that is needed to reconcile people with the Harry Potter Saga.
Please, take regard of my request so that can return peace around you and your beautiful works.
Sincerely,
P. (a fan of you)
